Kathy Button, M.Ed. is a learning specialist at the Institute for Learning and Development in Lexington, MA who has been teaching in various capacities for over 25 years. She holds a master’s degree in regular and special education from Boston College and an undergraduate degree in psychology from Cornell University. Kathy has training and experience with a wide variety of specialized instructional approaches, including Orton-Gillingham, the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program (LiPS), the Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing Program, Wilson Reading, Project Read programs, Benchmark Word Identification, Handwriting Without Tears, and Making Math Real. At ILD, Kathy conducts neuropsychological assessments and works individually with students across the grades who struggle with learning and/or attention difficulties. She has also been involved with Research ILD’s Drive to Thrive and SMARTS programs.

Kathy worked at ILD for nine years before moving to California in 2012. Prior to ILD, Kathy worked as a special educator in both the Arlington and Acton public schools. She has also been a classroom teacher at Benchmark School in Media, PA and the Nashoba Brooks School in Concord, MA. Most recently, she worked in California as an educational specialist at Morrissey-Compton Educational Center in Redwood City and as the Learning Services Coordinator at the Carey School in San Mateo. She relocated to Massachusetts in August 2017 and is happy to return to her professional home at ILD and RILD!
