The Institute for Learning and Development (ILD) is a clinical and educational organization that is dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and adults with learning and attention difficulties and to improving the lives of ALL learners. Using this collaborative approach, we teach students to become strategic learners and to discover their unique pathways to success. ResearchILD is the associated non-profit research organization that focuses on the development, evaluation and promotion of strategies for successful learning and teaching through research, program development, dissemination of instructional materials, and teacher training. We translate research findings into evaluation and teaching practices and form partnerships with parents, teachers and counselors.

ILD and ResearchILD provide a variety of clinically-applied and research-based opportunities for graduate interns. At ILD, interns observe and participate in the assessment process in its entirety and learn to evaluate students’ learning profiles, to differentially diagnose learning and attention problems, and to participate in the report writing process. Interns are also actively involved in the ongoing projects at ResearchILD, including updating the SMARTS executive function curriculum, and participating in educational programs designed to promote motivation, effort and academic success in students with learning and attention difficulties within different school settings, including the Boston Public Schools.
