Workshops for Parents

Parenting your EF-Challenged Child:  Homework and Beyond

Next class:  TBD

This 2 session (4 hour) workshop for parents is led by a psychologist and a language and learning specialist.  In this interactive workshop, parents learn how to help their children stay on top of their homework, adjust to new routines, and cope effectively with challenges at home and in school.

  • Session 1: Overview of Executive Function:  Common challenges and effective solutions
  • Session 2:  Hands-on Problem-solving:  Apply what you have learned in Session 1 to find unique solutions for your family and to develop a personal repertoire of strategies for your child.

Presentations for Special Education Parent Advisory Committees (PACs)

These presentations for PAC’s provide parents with comprehensive information about executive function processes as they affect children’s behavior and learning in school and at home.  Effective approaches to parenting children with executive function weaknesses, as well as a selection of research-based, tried and true strategies are presented.

Some sample titles of presentations include the following:

  • The Homework Challenge: The Role of Executive Function
  • Executive Function Processes: Beyond Academics
  • How Kids Learn: Facts, Strategies, Questions and Answers
  • Executive Function Processes: The Keys to Successful and Independent Living
